SELAMAT MENYAMBUT RAMADHAN 2015 (WELCOMING RAMADHAN 2015)

Salam hormat,

It is by no coincidence that Sages & Prophets of old practised fasting ("Saum") for some forty days (generally in isolation) prior to attaining enlightenment, inspiration or revelations.

Why forty (40) days?

Because it takes at least 21 days of practice for adults to change & form habits.

Fundamentally, the practice of fasting is not so much about abstinance, but more about peeling the layers of desires ("nafs"), starting from our outer physical layer of habitual addictions (physical & carnal) towards our inner layer for spiritual detoxification - to attain the State ("Maqam") of Egolessness/Selflessness - i.e. the State of Fulfilment.

At the core of our being is the essence ("Zat"), presence ("haqiqat"), attributes ("Sifat"), knowledge ("Ilm"), power ("Kudrat") & will ("Iradat") of the All-present ("Wajibul Wujud").

Being [1] The Incomparable One & Only; [2] Source of everything; [3] Whom does not come out from anything; Whom nothing comes out from (read: Whom is infinite, limitless & without boundary) - where & whence, therefore, does His presence stops, and our existence starts?

Verily, His presence lies NOT in our mind, heart, body or soul: His PRESENCE lies in our ABSENCE (read: in our 'Selflessness').

Therefore, it is only in our 'Selflessness' can we be become fulfilled in the Grace & Glory of the Limitless - hopefully after 21 days of proper fasting/cleansing, - on the pinnacle of Ramadhan i.e. the elusive 'Night of Power' ("Laylatul Qadr").

This year may we break away ("hijra") from our ritualistic understanding & practice of fasting towards a more meaningful and lasting physical & spiritual cleansing.

May we each experience our respective "Laylatul Qadr" this Ramadhan.

Insha'Allah..
