UTM NEWSHUB: UTM DISCOVERS THE MOST EFFECTIVE METHOD FOR LEARNING
JOHOR BAHRU, 17 February 2014 – Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) has discovered a way in multiplying our natural learning ability and to harness the potentials of the conscious and the subconscious mind by using brain wave stimulation technique.
Prof. Dr. –Ing. Eko Supriyanto from the Faculty of Biosciences and Medical Engineering said, by modulating specific audio tones, the brain waves can be induced into calmness and triggers a state called “whole brain functioning”.
“Activating the whole brain simultaneously increases the receptiveness of information, and assists the student’s mind to be “sponge-like” in absorbing information from learning materials.
“The research involves all levels of students from primary and secondary schools as well as tertiary education,” said Prof. Eko at a press conference held at IJN-UTM Cardiovascular Engineering Centre in UTM, today.
Prof. Eko who led the research cited, the conventional learning techniques that involve memorization, concentration and self-discipline has been scientifically proven as not efficiently utilizing the entire potentials of the natural mind.
Furthermore he said, students are easily exposed to stress and fatigue from busy school activities. All these problems can be solved by stimulating the brain waves to achieve concentration and mental clarity while in the state of being calm and alert.
“The brain wave stimulation technique to enhance learning ability is the result of eight years of research and collaboration between UTM and a local mind technology firm, MinDec Research Sdn Bhd.

UTUSAN MALAYSIA : UTM HASILKAN TEKNOLOGI MINDA PINTAR
JOHOR BAHRU 17 Feb.

BERITA HARIAN: UTM CIPTA ALAT BUNYI BANTU PROSES PEMBELAJARAN

NST: UTM CREATES SMART MIND TECHNOLOGY
JOHOR BARU: UNIVERSITI Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) has developed a learning technique called Smart Mind Technology which allows students to study in a calm and relaxed manner. It alters the brainwaves and combines the conscious and unconscious mind.
The technology was developed by the university in collaboration with MinDec Research Sdn Bhd (MinDec). Smart Mind Technology research head Prof Dr Ing Eko Supriyanto said the conventional learning techniques of memorising and concentration coupled with high self-discipline had been proven scientifically to be ineffective in utilising the full capacity of the brain. He claimed that the new technique was more effective.
“We have created two audio sets called Alpha and Theta that feature sounds recorded from nature,” he said.
“Each track has a different function in developing brain activities which create an ideal state for learning."
“The study was carried out for eight years on 25 students. We found that their level of learning had increased and they can remember better what was taught to them.”
Eko said although the brain wave-altering sound technique was started in the West, Smart Mind Technology was the first in the world to be developed with concentration on the systematic learning formulation technique and the ability to increase mind capacity.
THE STAR ONLINE: UTM'S SMART MIND TECHNOLOGY TO HELP STUDENTS CONCENTRATE BETTER
JOHOR BARU: Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) has discovered a new and effective way to enable students to concentrate better while studying by stimulating the brain using sound waves.
The research carried out by Prof Dr Eko Supriyanto from UTM’s Biosciences and Medical Engineering Faculty helps to activate the potentials of the conscious and subconscious mind.
“We tailor-made the sound waves to suit and calm the minds of students into a sponge-like state so that information can be absorbed easily,” he said at a press conference here on Monday.
The product, Smart Mind Technology, contains two types of music embedded into a pair of earphones where the student is to listen to the music while studying, up to a maximum of two hours, for each session.
“We have recently marketed the product and will meet the Education Ministry so that students can use the product to help them study better,” he added.
SINAR HARIAN: UTM TEMUI KAEDAH TINGKAT KEBOLEHAN MINDA
